MOBILE PHONE & DEVICES

With the development of technology it is now easier than ever to take a picture/video and upload it to various social media platforms as well as being able to send it to many people within seconds. Although this is mainly harmless, for some it poses significant risk and could raise serious safeguarding issues.

At Bluebell Hill Nursery one of our main priorities is ensuring the happiness and safety of the children in our care, as well as their families and our staff.

To enable us to ensure the safety of every associated with Bluebell Hill Nursery we have a strict No Mobile Phone (Personal Date Devise) policy. This includes all mobile phones, any type of camera, tablets and any other devise that can be used for taking photos and videos. (For information on how to receive images of nursery events please refer to our photo and video policy

Principles into Practice

There will be clear signage at all entrances used by parents and visitors reminding them not to use any photographic devise and mobile phones, this includes receiving phone calls, reading and responding to text/whatsapp messages, scrolling on social media etc

At nursery events there will be a verbal reminder not to use these devises. In the event that someone breaks the guidelines of this policy the following will happen in this order:

  1. Firstly a staff member will quietly and subtly ask for the devise to be put away and ask that any photos/videos are deleted.
  2. A second reminder to put the devise away and any photos/videos be deleted will be issued.
  3. A member of the management team will reiterate the request of the devise being put away and photos/videos be deleted.
  4. The Director/Manager will inform you that if the devise isn’t put away then you will have to leave the nursery site.
  5. The Director will ask you to leave the nursery and will ask for proof that any photos/videos have been erased.
  6. Should the Director, Manager or any member of staff feel threatened or verbally attacked, the police will be notified and your child’s place at the nursery could be in jeopardy.

We understand that starting Nursery is a massive milestone and it’s something that you would want a memory of. With that in mind, staff will document each child’s first session and you will receive a small keepsake.

If parents take photos of their child outside of the nursery, we respectfully ask that you ensure that only your own child is in the image, and if you post them onto social media any child in the background is cropped out or their face is obstructed.
